Summer...
This weekend has been hot... really hot... too damn hot... and humid...
And I have not felt well. Friday at work my sinuses filled up and by the end of the day I was miserable. I came home and tried to take a nap, but it was so hot it was hard to do so, even with fans blowing... I have never been a person who considered an air conditioner because typically, in Maine, we have a handful of miserably humid, hot days... but I wished I had one this weekend. I am not sure if it was allergies this weekend or if I am sick, but either way I am unhappy... but it has pushed me into pushing my doctor to get me in to see a specialist. I have talked to her about it before, I feel like my sinuses are always full... and I am tired of it. She told me to give my body a chance to adapt to being in a new building with my new job, but I have done that. So I will call her this week and see where I can go and how quickly. I am done.
Yesterday would have been a good day to paddle, but I was deterred because bending over and standing up as I would have needed to do to load and unload my kayak was not appealing... and I think that was when I realized enough is enough... prevent me from kayaking and I will do something about it!
So.. yesterday I started popping sudafed... and I do feel a little better today.. enough better that I did load my kayak and paddled... I went to a pretty big lake... wanting to find a place where if there was any breeze I would feel it, and hoped that perhaps I would dare to find a place to get out and go for a quick swim or two...
Here are some pictures... I was happy to see some loons... my first encounters of the season...
Getting ready to dive...
There were lots of islands to paddle around... one of which was a good place for my first swim...
I love these pics, with the sparking water... not great shots of the loons, but love that you can see the water... with a little breeze...
There are some huge pine trees along the way...
I watched this eagle soaring... but this was the best picture I got... it seemed to be loving the breeze!
This was my second swimming spot... sandy... and an easy place to pull my kayak out of the water. (Mental note, remember to bring a rope!)
The water was crystal clear... this was taken as I paddled back out onto the lake... you can see the sandy part... and the part where I am sure it was a bit mucky ... which, for the record, I did not touch! Ewww... I hate that feeling!
A nest... empty...
The clouds were pretty... I didn't get any great shots of them... but they were pretty...
See the heart?
This was nice... this week will be my final week with my kids who are seniors... I will miss many of them... and others I will be more than happy to see heading out of the building for good.
The other exciting thing this week... I am giving one of my kids an autographed book! Yahoo ! Stay tuned for that!
